Dongsu Kim] Good news, Vampire Weekend fans! After a year-long hiatus, the band is ready to go and release new music next week.

In a report by the Consequence of Sound, the news comes when lead vocalist and guitarist of indie band Vampire Weekend, Ezra Koenig, took to social media to share the news that they are planning on the release of a new double album.

The news gets better when Koenig shares that the band is planning to “drop six new songs each month leading up to the album’s release” which is slated for sometime in spring. The six-year hiatus means that all the waiting is over.

Koenig happily broke the news on Instagram with an adequately vague image post of a computer folder entitled “FOTB”. Although the musician didn’t elaborate on what that could possibly mean, he still said that the name was something that the band had actually chosen “a few years ago.”

In the lengthy caption that followed it, Koenig admitted that though the album was not really hard to write or record, the length of the hiatus actually came from the fact that the band had taken “more time on the front end to chill.”

Furthermore, when before Koenig told fans that the upcoming fourth album was to be entitled “Mitsubishi Macchiato”, the FOTB has long since replaced that designation. On why it was an acronym, Koenig said that it was in keeping with the VW tradition.

For all that the hiatus has left fans wanting more music from the band for the last six years, Koenig proudly shared that their fans will be rewarded with an hour-long album consisting of yet unrevealed 18 tracks.

Koenig explained that the band had intended to initially do two 23-song albums but had eventually junked the idea. He did say that the two-song release every month release could still be subject to change but that so far, this was the present situation of their upcoming fourth album.
